  • 4/1/2024, IE senior students Valenina Mora Casalla, Joy Saha, and Arslan Abbasi will attend the Annual IISE Conference and Expo in Montreal, Canada. They will also present their senor design project “Planning for Net-zero Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure of Texas Through 2040.” The project is funded by EPRI.
  • On 3/1/2024, Dr. Tongdan Jin was invited to serve as the program chair for The 2024 International Conference on Smart Electrical Grid and Renewable Energy (SEGRE). The conference will be held on August 16-18 in Suzhou, China. The conference webpage is http://www.icsegre.org/.

  • On 8/2/2023, Dr. Tongdan Jin attended the ISSAT Conference in San Francisco, CA, USA. The presented his collaborative work titled “Cost-Availability Analysis for Redundant Systems with Spares Inventory and Emergency Repair.” Special thanks to my co-authors Dr. Emily Zhu and Dr. Bin Xiao, both are my colleagues of Texas State University.
  • On 7/28/2023, Kathryn Budde successfully defended her master thesis titled “Blockchain and Machine Learning for Smart Factory System Operations under Peer-to-Peer Transactive Energy Trading.” Special thanks to the Committee Members Dr. Michelle Londa and Dr. Karim Zahed.
  • On 7/6/2023, Dr. Tongdan Jin was invited as a guest speaker for the 2023 International Reliability Technology Forum, Suzhou, China. He delivered a 30-minunute presentation tiled “A Holistic Approach to Reliability, Maintenance, Spares, and Repair Logistics.” 
  • On 6/15/2023, Dr. Tongdan Jin attended the International Conference on Smart Electrical Grid and Renewable Energy (SEGRE 2023). As an invited speaker, his topic is “Joint Location-Sizing of Industrial Facility and Prosumer Microgrid: A Transactive Energy Paradigm,” This work is co-authored with Mr. Honglin Li of UT Dallas and Dr. Emily Zhu of McCoy College of Business at Texas State U.

  • On 10/23/2022, Dr. Tongdan Jin received a fund from Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to work on electrifying transpiration of Texas through 2040.   • On 4/10/2022, a joint work with Dr. Emily Zu of McCoy Business School, and Dr. Keisuke Ikehata of Civil Engineering has been accepted in the upcoming 2022 IISE Conference in Seattle, WA. The title of the paper is “A Comparative Study of Machine Learning Algorithms for Long-Term Daily Water Usage Forecasting.”
  • On 1/20/2022, congratulation to Honglin Li and Siva Prabha on the joint paper published in Journal of the Operational Society. The title of the paper “Supply Chain Design for Transactive Energy Operations in the Nexus of Manufacturing, Microgrid and Climate.” The work is a first of kind in synthesizing transactive energy with materials, information and cash flows under integrated commodity and energy market.
  • On 1/10/2022, congratulation to Fei Sun on her leading authored paper published in Renewable Energy journal. The title of the paper “A hybrid Approach to Multi-step, Short-term Wind Speed Forecasting using Correlated Features.” The paper is based on her dissertation work.

  • On 10/22/2019, Priyadharshini Kumaravelan, EE master student, presented a poster in Annual INFORMS in Seattle, the topic is “Power Grid Resilience Planning for Extreme Weather Recovery.” Thanks for the good work.
  • On 10/21/2019, Fei Sun, PhD Student in SMEC, presented a tall in Annual INFORMS in Seattle, the topic is “Optimal Sizing of a Hybrid Energy Storage System Operated on a Microgrid Using Climate Data Analytics”. She also presented a poster titled “Forecasting Wind Turbine Generation with Machine Learning Regression Model.” The poster enters the finalist in competition.
  • On 8/2/2019, Dr. Tongdan Jin attended the 26th ISSAT Conference in Las Vegas, and presented the joint work with professors Q. Huang and X. Cheng of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Professor Y. Xiang of Texas Tech University. The title of the paper is “Semiconductor Process Variation Analysis using Implicit Differentiation Chain Rule“. This project was conducted while the PI was a summer visiting scholar at SJTU.
  • On 6/7/2019, Professor Gang Niu from Tongji University, China visited the Ingram School of Engineering. He presented a cutting-edge topic “Fault Detection Diagnosis and Prognosis towards Autonomous Health Management and Maintenance Optimization for Rail Vehicle Systems“. Thanks for the nice talk to our students and faculty.
  • On 6/7/2019, Dr. Zhiqiang Cai, professor of Industrial Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University, China visited the Ingram School of Engineering. Hel presented recent findings with the topic “A Multi-objective Reliability Optimization for Reconfigurable Systems considering Components Degradation.” Currently Dr. Cai  is a visiting scholar in Northwestern University in USA.
  • On 3/4/2019, Dr. David Coit, professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Rutgers University, visited the Ingram School of Engineering. He will present recent findings with the topic of “System reliability analysis and models: Assuring superior product performance.” Many thanks, Dr. Coit!
  • On 2/8/2019. Ms. Temitope Runsewe, master student in Industrial Engineering, won the 3rd place in poster competition in WE Local Conference, Baltimore, Maryland. The title of the poster is “Stochastic Models for Planning Distributed Wind Generation based on Data Analytics” . Congratulation!

  • On 4/15/2014, James Farris (EE Under) and Binbin Li (Engr & Technology Master) will present their research in FAIMS 2014, the title of the paper is “Design of a Cost-Effective Wireless System for Estimating Solar Photovoltaics Generation.” They have successfully developed and tested a wireless sensor network to track the environmental parameters on a mobile solar PV system.
  • On 1/29/2014, Drs. R. Cassady at U. of Arkansas, Y. Xiang at Sun Yat-Sen U., and T. Jin received the Evans-McElroy best conference paper award in RAMS 2014.

  • On 11/4/2010, Naveen Nalajala presented his research in The Annual International Graduate Student Research Conference at Texas State University. The title is “Communication technology-a survey on its application in power grid automation.”
  • On 10/30/2010, WITNESS partners with the CHiPS Lab of Ingram School of Engineering to develop new simulation tools to model and analyze distributed energy generation systems. Drs. Jesus A. Jimenez and Tongdan Jin are the faculty mentors of the project Detail News.
  • On 10/1/2010, Dr. Jin (PI) and Dr. Fethi Belkhouche (Co-PI) recently received a $430,000 award from the US Department of Education.
  • On 9/20/2010, Dr. Jin was invited to serve the ICQRMS20101 conference committee, thanks for the general conference Chair Dr. Hong-Zhong Huang’s invitation.

  • On 8/22/2010, Dr. Jesus Jimenez presented the paper co-authored with Dr. Jin “A Review on planning and automation for distributed generation systems” in CASE 2010, Toronto, Canada.
  • On 8/1/2010, Joe Alex Granado, a undergraduate student in IE major, won the best student paper for the journal of Reliability Review co-authored with Dr. Jin.
  • 7/1/2010, Dr. Jin visited the Department of Management Sciences, Sun Yat-Sen University, China, and presented his research to the students and faculty.
  • From 6/12/2010 to 6/18, Dr. Jin attended the PMAPS conference in Singapore and presented the paper “Uncertainty analysis for wind energy production with dynamic power curves.”
  • On 6/17/2010, Dr. Jin visited the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), National University of Singapore, and presented his research to ISE students and faculty.
  • On 6/1/2010, Dr. Yi Ding presented the paper co-authored with Dr. Jin “Lifecycle-based reliability growth management for electrics designs” in ICMIT conference, Singapore.
  • On 3/21/2010, a logistics team from US Air Force visited the Ingram School of Engineering, and Dr. Jin presented “Electronics Prognostics and Its Applications in Complex Systems/Equipment” to the visitors.
  • On 1/28/2010, Dr. Peng Wang presented the paper co-authored with Dr. Jin “Optimal replacement of safety-critical aircraft parts with utilization uncertainties,” in annual RAMS 2010 conference, San Jose, CA.

2009

  • On 11/27/2009, about 20 high school students in San Marcos, TX, visited the Ingram School of Engineering. Dr. Jin met the students and presented “Global Engineering and Opportunities for You” to these future engineers in room RFM 5233.
